Bryan Kibler, Effingham County State's Attorney
Since 2012, Bryan M. Kibler has served as the Effingham County State’s
Attorney. As the chief legal officer for Effingham County, Bryan is
responsible for prosecuting all criminal offenses that occur within the
county and for representing the county in all civil matters. During an
average year, the office prosecutes over 300 felony cases,
approximately 750 misdemeanor offenses (including misdemeanor
traffic), and over 5,000 petty traffic offenses each year. The
Effingham County State’s Attorney’s Office is comprised of three
attorneys, one private investigator, one victim-witness coordinator, and
four administrative assistants.
In 2015, Bryan was appointed by Governor Bruce Rauner to the Illinois
Criminal Justice Information Authority. This influential board is
responsible for distributing over $100 million in criminal justice grants
every year and for providing leadership on making the criminal justice system more effective. Prior to becoming State’s Attorney, Bryan was in private practice in Effingham with a focus on criminal defense and family law. Also, Kibler served as the Jasper County Public Defender. Kibler is a 2004 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law, and he received his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University in 2001. Kibler, who was born and raised in Effingham, currently resides in Effingham with his wife and twin daughters. His twin daughters, Sydney and Madeline, are in the 6th grade at Effingham Junior High, and his Wife, Jennifer, is a social studies teacher at Collinsville High School.
